Why hCG Works

Why hCG Works

A large amount of misinformation has been published and presented on hCG especially concerning the mechanism of action and why HCG works. The hCG protein hormone directs the bodies of pregnant women to use their own fat as a source of calories during the first (30-45) days of pregnancy for the developing fetus. The physician credited for the development of hCG as a dietary aid was Dr. Simeons almost (30) years ago. Dr. Simeons through his research discovered and observed that the hCG hormone will also direct the body to use their own fat as a source of calories in women who are not pregnant, as well as in men.

The way that HCG works is, of course, much more complicated than just a simple explanation or observation. Dr. Simeons reasoned that hCG influences the hypothalamus of the brain that helps guide the metabolism of fat within the body. Although the mainstream medical profession have dismissed or ignored this explanation about how hCG influences the hypothalamus it was refuted in 1994 by the discovery of leptin – that also directs the body to burn fat by communicating with the hypothalamus..

From the Journal of Endocrinology (Aug. 2007): “…HCG significantly stimulates the secretion of the pro-adipogenic factor, leptin, from human adipose tissue.” There is no consensus of how these hormones work together, although the interaction and dependency of HCG and leptin, plus insulin, is undoubtedly at the foundation of how we store and burn fat.

The fact remains that patients that go through this type of weight loss therapies will lose fat, maintain their metabolic rate, feel less hungry, retain energy levels, and are able to continue on a ketosis diet thus preserving lean body mass and enjoy the caloric deficit to lose pounds and inches.
